The Female Rider Code: Why Your Horse Needs You to Show Up First

When I asked equestrian women one simple question — what word sums you up? — the answers broke my heart.
Sacrifice.
Tears.
Two steps forward, five steps back.
But when I asked what they longed for?
Connection.
Progress.
Pride.
A sense of accomplishment.
This gap is exactly why I’m writing The Female Rider Code.
For too long, diets and quick fixes have failed women. And equestrians? We’re a breed of our own. We work harder, give more, and always put the horse first. But what if — and stay with me here — what if your horse’s problems aren’t just about them?
That realisation hit me like a brick wall.
I used to think, the horse just doesn’t want to go forward. Or, he’s lame — that’s not on me.
Then I had a lesson that changed everything.
Instead of working on the horse, the instructor worked on me.
And what happened? The horse softened. His back released. His whole way of moving shifted.
That was the day I understood: the rider is half of the partnership. And we cannot ignore it.
Over the last two years, working with equestrian women all over the world, I’ve seen three repeating patterns that hold riders back:
Nutrition
Movement
Brain Gym (how you manage stress + your nervous system)
And here’s the tough truth: the average equestrian spends over £20,000 a year on their horse — before vet bills. Yet so many don’t invest in themselves.
But real progress?
Real connection?
It starts with you.
This book is not for quick-fix riders. It’s for horsewomen who are ready to do the inner work — to show up stronger, calmer, more connected, so their horse can thrive too.
I’ll be sharing the entire writing process with you — the lessons, the behind-the-scenes, the breakthroughs.
Because The Female Rider Code isn’t just a book. It’s a movement.
